Exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join a global giant in the content space. This is a new role based in Toronto, Canada.
The successful candidate will be a natural hunter, responsible for proactively acquiring new business to increase our clients market share and revenue opportunities at every possible touchpoint. You’ll have an excellent knowledge of your target market / location and execute a tailored approach to win business for both short- and long-term gain. Working as part of a matrix pod structure, you’ll thrive in an environment of clear, continuous communication and global collaboration and be able to successfully manage priorities and deliver results in a dynamic setting. You’ll embrace change, seeking opportunities through curiosity and demonstrate a growth mindset.
  • Striving to exceed annual sales targets for new and lapsed customers
  • Proactively manage a pipeline of new customers to the point of contract and revenue commitment
  • Discover all information necessary to understand the prospective customer, coming up with creative solutions and a targeted approach to win business
  • Prepare, arrange and carry out tailored, high-quality on brand presentations to new customers
  • Develop and secure rate agreements from new clients, effectively handle correspondence for any rate negotiation, consulting where appropriate
  • Successfully manage Request for Proposals
  • Manage correspondence for contract negotiation in consultation with Sales Managers
  • Build up targeted list of prospective customers using industry news, LinkedIn, new registrations and leads from Customer Services and Sales colleagues
  • Network through the organisation to find the decision maker to endeavour to secure a company level commitment/top supplier contract
  • Self-motivated to hit KPIs such as call/email targets, customer meetings and pitches, price proposals and account set ups
  • Effectively manage regular outreach to newly converted customers to further build relationships, understand their visual needs and maximise ongoing revenue potential
  • Once set up, manage account sales with a customer first mentality, whilst doing the right thing, until the point of repeat and regular spend, handle subsequent handover to Account Development team colleagues at year end
  • Provide data led, and objective, projections to support with reforecasting

  • Strong negotiation skills, responsive and creative with a keen visual sense when recommending imagery
  • Works well under pressure, able to make good judgements, decisions and meet conflicting deadlines
  • Self-aware with the ability to actively listen and ask relevant questions
  • Able to provide and receive constructive feedback and act on this with a genuine desire to improve theirs and their colleagues’ performance
  • Keeps on top of industry developments and trends and shares knowledge with global teams
  • A proven track record of success within a new business development role and a natural product mindset
  • Demonstrates a customer first approach and is proactive in resolving any challenge that they are faced with
  • High attention to detail and level of accuracy  
  • Familiar with customer management systems, SalesForce experience would be highly desirable
  • Knowledge of the basic fundamental legal considerations, including Copyright, when working with photography would be beneficial
