We’re on the hunt for a Senior Strategist for one of our favourite clients! Our client is one of the most exciting growth companies in the UK today that is home to three award winning agencies. Across the group, they have a shared mission to lead connected commerce marketing.

The role
Our client is looking for someone to bring a curiosity to understand everything you can about shoppers, a desire to produce original and innovative creative ideas, and a passion to bring this all together to create memorable, effective, and connected commerce plans.
 
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Building market leading commerce campaign strategies
  • Interrogating briefs that come into the Planning Team, ensuring you have what the agency needs to proceed and challenging back where you don’t.
  • Using internal and external tools (such as TGI, Mintel, Google) to conduct research into shoppers, brands, categories and retailers.
  • Identifying powerful insights in your research and using them to inform your:
    • Communication strategies: what we need to say to our target audience to overcome their barriers to awareness, consideration and purchase.
    • Media strategies: how we will reach the right audience with the right message in the right way using channels across the media landscape.
  • Running ‘Campaign/Media Lab’ sessions, applying creative thinking and precision planning to develop campaign and activation ideas.
  • Crafting clear, concise, credible, and compelling presentations demonstrating our approach and rationale, presenting this back to clients.
Scoping out and delivering bespoke consultancies for clients
  • Using your knowledge and expertise to help respond to ad-hoc requests from clients who have identified a need for support outside of campaign strategy development – for example creating ‘Commerce marketing fundamentals’ playbooks, ‘How to’ guides, and more.
Upskilling the rest of the business in all things ‘Planning’
  • Develop internal materials, content, frameworks and training to build the company’s capability in designing effective campaigns and drive consistency across the business.
Thought leadership
  • Proactively and regularly share trends, reports, articles, webinars, etc with your colleagues to encourage broader thinking.
  • Write inspiring thought pieces for colleagues and clients on the latest topics such as inflation and HFSS rules.
  • Share best practice, knowledge and best in class examples from inside and outside the agency.
  • Identify opportunities to challenge the status quo of how the agency currently operates, suggesting and actioning changes and optimisations.
Team management
  • You will be responsible for the development, training, and career progression for your direct report(s). As one of the most senior members of the team, you will also be responsible for shaping and delivering the team OGSM, and making the right judgement calls on what level of support we need to be providing on each brief and therefore the best process to follow in order to get to the output needed (e.g. campaign lab only vs full deck support).
Relationship building and defining ways of working
  • Leading relationships with the senior members across the other teams that we work with, ensuring the team are identifying their challenges and opportunities and how the team can support them.
  • Acting as a true pillar of support to the Planning Director in all of the above
What you'll need to have / be:
  • Proven & demonstrable experience and a proven track record in creating marketing plans for brands that have delivered strong results.
  • A balance of creativity (coming up with exciting ideas at pace) and commerciality.
  • An ability to analyse data to glean relevant, actionable insights.
  • Flawless attitude in all environments, with a strong will to succeed.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders to deliver best in class client service (even internally), at all times.
  • An ability to work at pace, across multiple projects and subject areas.
  • A proven track record in leading, engaging and developing a team of strong and capable strategists.
  • An ability to work well independently (as well as in groups) and truly lead the projects you work on from the front.
  • As the agency looks to expand their remit, previous experience in brand strategy will be an advantage but is not essential.
