We are looking for a mid-weight UI (Visual/Interaction) Designer to join our clients creative team delivering digital solutions for a market leading B2C site.
This role will contribute to the overall improvement of the site experience created for the audience of wedding couples, venues and suppliers.
 
This is a mid-weight UI Designer role, best suited to someone with experience working to deliver inclusive design solutions for a product that is both a brand destination and planning tool – so understanding how design can improve the user experience and achieve business objectives. This role has the opportunity to impact a leading site in the wedding sector and set the creative standard for their future.
 
The UI Designer will work collaboratively with UX Architects and Designers, Front End Developers and Product Owners on a regular basis. They should be comfortable guiding a brand vision and be comfortable delivering that on all breakpoints and devices. Ideally, they have an understanding and appreciation for User-Centered (evidence-based) Design and a curiosity for the unique challenges of designing for mobile and touch.
 
Our client is about to depart on an exciting transitional period, in terms of both design and tech. This role will be a vital part of a platform rebuild, the first in over 20 years. This allows for a lot of creativity and freedom, working within a well-established agile scrum team. The right person will be familiar with building products and understand the impact of small changes to a user interface by testing their designs with actual users.
 
This is an opportunity to be part of a growing in-house Experience Design team in a successful publishing and media company in Hammersmith, London.
 
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • An online portfolio demonstrating strong digital visual design skills
  • Experience applying and demonstrating a user-centric (inclusive) approach to projects
  • Experience working on UI for responsive web as well as apps
  • The ability to justify design decisions and confidence to back them with data and insights
  • A good understanding of front-end technologies
  • Experience working with a product across multiple channels (web, social, native mobile)
  • Experience working to an agile design process, collaborating with other disciplines
  • Passionate about user-centric, inclusive and accessible design
  • Experience working in an agile team
 
 
Qualifications:
 
Core:
  • Rigorous application of inclusive design - solid knowledge of Accessibility rules
  • A mobile-first approach 
  • Understanding when to deliver low vs high fidelity designs
  • Detail focused - able to identify the evidence that informed your designs…
  • Confident in building design guidelines and experienced with web fonts
  • Commercial awareness 
Technical:
  • Sketch
  • Invision
  • Prototyping your designs  - using Invision, or other prototyping tools (Axure, Proto.io etc)
  • Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Web Font Management
  • UX tools – to share any multiple page design flows
Nice to Have:
  • Coding experience
  • Working with UX research and wireflow experience
  • Knowledge of FE technologies e.g. React
  • Understanding of PWA’s
  • Varied experience with grid systems (bootstrap and 8-point)
