Our client is the world's leading emerging technology provider for commerce. They partner with Brands and Retailers to produce engaging shopper experiences deployed across physical, and digital, activation points on the customer shopping journey. They collaborate with clients to deploy engaging, measureable projects including; production of augmented reality experiences, products, stores, avatars, liveshopping, virtual flagship stores, Metaverse and NFT activations.
They are currently looking for a Global Business Director to lead on a Globally Known Client.
The immediate team is composed of some very talented and friendly people which currently consists of a Project Manager, Operations Manager and Senior Digital innovations Director. The portfolio of products is split evenly within the team. The Global Business Director oversees the team and owns the expansion plan and execution of the client.

Role Description

  • Be the business leader for an incredibly well known global brand: Have a clear business plan and areas of focus to centre the business and team around
  • Manage a very complex and fast-paced, profitable business unit
  • Collaborate with the Chief Revenue Officer and the Digital Innovation Director lead based out of London to run this multi-market business from the business planning through to the end products
  • Deliver consistent exciting, innovative and engaging communication solutions
  • Pull in the needed expertise and capability from across the media practices to deliver on the commitment to the client
  • Inspire your team to deliver outstanding services and products. Lead by example.
  • Organise the team and ensure appropriate expertise and resource to service the clients
  • Collaborate with the other regional and global leadership on this business
  • Provide strong input and POVs into how the business is being run.
  • Lead the commercial discussions
  • Collaborate with finance to ensure we are contributing to overall agency profit and growth
  • Play an active role across the agency as an organisation; participate in new business; lead floor initiatives and provide leadership support to the management team
  • Ensure the culture of both agency and client are embraced by the team and share the clients success stories across the department

Client service

  • Develop strong relationships with the senior clients. Particularly, engage with senior decision-makers and understand their business as well as they do.
  • Ensure there is a clear contact plan for the clients at all other levels; the team will be responsible for running these day-to-day relationships, but you will be the face of the business and point of escalation
  • Empower the team to deliver best working practices to ensure specific accounts run smoothly
  • Provide strong management to all the team
  • Deliver strong inputs grounded in data and research to ensure we become the default strategic source for the client
  • Keep clients informed of new appointments and the key potential benefits for their business
  • Constantly deliver re-appraised customer, market and brand insights that can deliver communication solutions with a competitive advantage.
  • Help educated and lead the client in digital conversations, pulling in the right expertise from across the team, practices and Group

Commercial acumen

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of how the agency is remunerated by this complex client
  • Take direct responsibility for increasing profitability
  • Maximise all potential revenue from existing channels and constantly look to innovate and develop new revenue streams
  • Develop and exceed revenue targets agreed with the Chief Revenue Officer
  • Look to exceed these and support organic financial growth. Ensure processes, payments, evidence and all other commercially focused administration is completed by all teams on time and with precision

Strategic Leadership 

  • Work with the relevant comms planner to design a strategic roadmap for the client to help them achieve their goal of leader in the Web3.0, NFT, Metaverse space
  • Be able to see broadly across the business and anticipate the needs of what should be applied to their changing business – whether that comes in-house or from a practice
  • Build Knowledge: actively ensure you and your team are up to date with all client, internal initiatives, partner agencies and industry and consumer insights.
  • Identify gaps in your team’s knowledge and ensure they have the correct L&D programme in place
  • Strive to develop ‘ROI’ initiatives where appropriate and implement them accordingly Team management leadership
  • Give direction, manage, appraise and motivate all team members
  • Lead by personal example and ensure the team wants to come to work in the morning to succeed
  • Inspire the team by supporting learning and development, and provide coaching for the team in your area of expertise
  • As the most senior leader in EMEA you will be responsible for managing/orchestrating all the talent that works on this client and collaborating with other department leaders to ensure these people are in place
  • Ensure the account has the lowest turnover of employees possible (under industry benchmarks)

Accountability

  • Enter all appropriate internal and external awards
  • Actively take part and deliver on opinion and talent acquisition
  • Regularly report to the Chief Revenue Officer. Support on business planning preparation and created case studies for outstanding work done
  • Ensure your team completes regular 360 reviews so you receive feedback as a leader
  • Escalation points for your teams and the client on all day-to-day projects

Qualifications

  • You will need to be someone who will make an impact on the business, bringing ideas and a point of view.
  • B2B expertise is not a requirement but is strongly preferred. In-depth experience in the emerging technologies; AR, VR, eCommerce and shopper marketing industry or an industry with a transferrable skill set.
  • We need you to inspire your direct team and be influential across the agency, so prior experience in managing a global piece of client business, and people, is vital. 
  • Demonstrable media agency experience at a senior level is also another facet that is crucial in being able to advise our client, we would like to see the experience of this from major global brands- and an understanding of applying best practices/learnings to this business.
  • A strong digital background is a must. Being able to simplify complex digital solutions into a client-friendly story with the support of more in-depth experts is required. Excellent interpersonal communication skills: clear concise communication that is polished and professional.
  • Ability to present to large and small groups, live and via conference call in a dynamic and captivating way.
  • And finally. You will be excited by change and be able to lead others through it, positively and proactively.
